DISTRONIC PLUS with PRE-SAFE Brake System, which consists of a radar that monitors the vehicle ahead and adjusts speed accordingly. If the car ahead slows down or stops, the PRE-SAFE Brake System engages up to 40% of available brakeforce. If the brakes have not been applied within 0.6 seconds of calculated impact, the system will then apply 100% brakeforce, with the intended effect of reducing impact severity. An audio/visual warning will be triggered if the system determines the driver is not braking hard enough to prevent colliding into the vehicle ahead; Blind Spot Assist, which engages above 18 mph and alerts the driver with a red hazard signal in the side mirrors if a vehicle is entering the blind spot area.
